As part of the 1st Announcement, the Call for Papers for the ICA 2018 has just been published. The scientific program will include up to 11 parallel sessions with about 100 slots for the presentation of submitted papers.
Actuaries, scientists and practitioners from around the world are encouraged to participate in shaping the program by sumbitting relevant, leading-edge ideas, research results and insights that will expand and grow the current body of actuarial knowledge. All information and the detailed abstracts submission requirement can be found in the Call for Papers.
Apart from the Call for Papers the 1st Announcement also includes information on
- the congress formats,
- the lists of congress topics for all sections,
- the award sessions,
- the Young Researcher Program,

After the successful introduction during the DAV Autumn Meeting, the Annual Meeting will again offer the virtual formats of VICA 2018. This time, interested candidates will be able to follow most of the presentations in Berlin live via internet. The main programs of the following sections will be streamed online:
- Actuarial Data Science
- AFIR /ERM
- DGVFM Scientific Day
Furthermore, the national ASTIN section program will again feature an online session, this time Prof. Alois Gisler, ETH Zurich, will offer a session on “Chain-ladder reserve uncertainties revisited”. More information on the DAV Annual Meeting can be found on www.aktuarkongress.net.

In our new series we want to introduce the seven locations and the program of the limited attendance experiences available at the ICA 2018. The first issue features the Ottobock Science Center, located at the Potsdamer Platz.
The Science Center Berlin represents the medtech company Ottobock in the capital city. At first glance, the modern architecture of the building – also known as the “muscle house” – catches the visitor’s attention. Approximately 100,000 people visit the Science Center every year. Continue reading
