06 Feb 2018 Student Research Case Study Challenge presented by the SOA
Start of „Student Research Case Study Challenge“ presented by the Society of Actuaries – Winner’s Presentation on ICA 2018 in Berlin!
SOA Research is holding a Student Research Case Study Challenge, which provides an opportunity for teams of students to apply their actuarial skills on a real world problem. Over the course of eight weeks (start: February 9th; end: April 6th; entering the competition is possible until March, 2nd), teams of up to five students will research a case study situation, conduct actuarial analysis, formulate solutions, and present recommendations. The work will require a team approach to identify issues and organize priorities. The team will need to understand and select from potential data sources, develop models with appropriate accuracy metrics, summarize relevant results, and then present recommendations in a written format. Teams are encouraged to seek guidance from a faculty advisor to assist them in their overall approach. Teams can look forward to showcasing their creativity while building synergies within an actuarial setting.
Finalist schools that are from Europe will be invited to present their work at ICA 2018. Three finalist schools from the European region are supported with their registration for the meeting, and travel and lodging. Support for travel and attendance at ICA 2018 is provided by the SOA.
The presentations at the ICA 2018 will be given on Wednesday, 6 June 2018, from 10.30 onwards, according to the sections AFIR/ERM, HEALTH and LIFE.
